How do Hollywood and the U. Military co-operate on films like this? What are some concessions that filmmakers make in order to have access to these resources? The cast was well chosen. The music was both edgy and nostalgic.
Harbour Adult. The language is strong and they missed the time that the Lords name is taken in vain. I went to see this because that was not listed but does indeed say it towards the end of the movie.
Very disappointing. This title has: Too much swearing. Evan E. The perfect movie. Wholesome and respectful. Although age appropriate. Some strong adult language at times as well intense action and violence in aircraft. Some very emotional moments. Everyone has a good purpose and is not villianized. Too much violence. This film is a lot more fun than I think anyone expected. Considering how long it took from watching the first trailers to finally seeing the film I had lost interest, however, when the positive reviews came in my husband and I decided to give it a shot.
Birds crash into the windshield of a jet we see a bit of splatter and into the engines of another jet; one engine catches fire and the pilot disables it, then tries to restart it, alarms blare and the pilot and the co-pilot eject just before the jet crashes we see it explode and we hear that the pilots are in the hospital but will be OK.
A jet returns to a carrier to land without a tail hook and a barricade is put up to catch the plane and keep it from falling off the edge; sparks fly when the nose of the plane drags on the landing pad. A pilot flies a training course at high speeds and launches a missile that hits its target and blows a hole in the ground. Two planes spin around in the air and fly very close to the ground as alarms sound and they pull up dangerously close to the ground. A plane is flown close over the ground and when it passes over a guard shack where a man is standing, the roof of the shack lifts and dust blows on the ground.
Many scenes show jets taking off and landing from aircraft carriers at sea. A man rides a motorcycle and seems to be racing a jet as it takes off. Two armed navy men approach a man as he steps off a helicopter after crashing a jet and we see him being reprimanded by his commander. A pilot is reprimanded by his commander several times.
A woman hits a man in the abdomen with a pool cue twice and he bends over. A man is carried out of a bar by three other men and thrown on the ground outside when he cannot pay his tab. In the sequel, the perspective is flipped, with the class of swaggering fighter pilots shown from the instructor's point of view. They're not ready, they're overly confident, and it's clear that they need structure and guidance.
Still shattered from Goose's death all these years later and afraid that Goose's son, Bradley Teller , could lose his life the same way, Maverick has to teach the young guns how to take risks in the most risk-averse way.
The movie's romance no longer has an uneven power dynamic ahem, dating the teacher , either: Maverick's love interest, Penny Jennifer Connelly , is the same age and has her own, separate career -- and things between them get about as sexy as a starched collar. Where viewers are likely to feel the intensity is in the aerial combat, which is notably more breathtaking and includes stunning action sequences.
Cruise is known for insisting on authenticity by performing stunts himself, and he and the other actors really fly these planes. That helps make the film more immersive. Many former '80s teens have fond memories of watching Top Gun with their parents. Top Gun: Maverick is made for that experience to continue. Families can talk about "trusting your gut. What does Maverick mean when he says that being a pilot "is not what I am, it's who I am. In both films, Top Gun classmates have a rivalry.

Stands out for positive messages. Positive Messages. Positive Role Models. Diverse Representations. An absolute must see, multiple times, and must be seen in IMAX. Most complex and exciting aerial scenes ever filmed - this will be the best aviation movie in the last 40 years.
Actors and real airplanes with very little CGI. Two thumbs up from me. This title has: Great messages.
